Photography Policy

Nemours Estate is a popular setting for photo sessions and proposals. To help ensure every guest has a memorable experience, we are sharing our updated policy and procedures for special occasion, amateur, professional, and photoshoot photography.

Non-posed photography and videography are permitted in the Mansion and gardens for guests to document their visit. Flash and equipment are not permitted in the Mansion. The only equipment permitted in the gardens is a tripod.

Photo session reservations are required and must be approved by the Estate. To secure a photo session permit, email hannah.rosato@nemours.org with the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Photographerʼs full name
  • Company name (if applicable)
  • Date requested (must be within regular business hours, not permitted during events)
  • Time requested (between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., exit by 4:45 p.m.)
  • Type of photos/video planned
  • Phone number to contact on the day of the reservation
  • Email address
  • Total number of guests in attendance

Rules and Guidelines

  • Approved photo sessions are ONLY permitted in the gardens; no photo sessions in buildings will be permitted.
  • Photo sessions must be scheduled a minimum of two weeks in advance.
  • Any changes to the reservation must be made before payment is due.
  • Requests for same day visits will not be approved.
  • A photo session does not include general admission to Nemours Estate, entry to the Mansion or other Estate buildings will be denied (no exceptions).
  • A photography permit costs $50 per adult and $35 per child (ages 6-16, but children 5 and under are free) for all guests in attendance, including the photographer(s). Payment is due 1 week before the reservation date.
  • Photo session groups must check-in at the Ticket House when they arrive and check-out when they exit.
  • The entire photo session group must stay together during the entirety of the visit.
  • Arrival for your group can be between 10:00 a.m. and last entry is a strict 4:00 p.m. All photo session guests must exit the property by 4:45 p.m.
  • Examples of photo sessions include but are not limited to proposal, wedding, engagement, family, maternity, Quinceanera, prom, etc.
  • Photography or filiming for business, influence, or promotional purposes is not permitted.
  • Annual Garden and Estate passes may not be used for photo session admission, returning groups will need to pay for the permit each visit date.
  • Online tickets are not for photo sessions.

Day of Reservation

  • Cameras and tripods are the only equipment allowed.
  • Wagons, carts, lights, stands, reflectors, and related equipment are strictly prohibited.
  • Props of any kind are not allowed.
  • Photo shoots must be respectful of other guests and staff.
  • High traffic areas near the Mansion and entrance are off limits to photoshoot groups. This includes the front steps of the Mansion, the Vista, and the main drive of the property. These are marked on a map that is given digitally to each group.
  • Guests may not use restrooms for wardrobe changes, come dressed in the clothes you plan to wear for the session. Wardrobe changes are also not permitted in our parking lot.
  • Drones are not permitted.
  • Nemours Estate will not store personal items during your visit.
  • Suitcases, backpacks, and large bags are also not allowed.
  • Photoshoot groups are not permitted inside any Estate buildings (Mansion, Chauffeurʼs Garage, and Gift Shop/Laundry Building).
  • Attendees will be given a “Photography Pass” that they must carry for the duration of the visit. If approached, they should present the pass.

Any groups that disregard these policies and rules will be asked to leave the property and will not be permitted to return for future photo sessions. A refund will not be granted for groups who arrive after 4:00 p.m. or do not follow the policy.
